No Deal Howie!

So Amy and I decided to do something we have never done before. We went and applied for a game show. Deal or No Deal came to Salt Lake City and was accepting applications. My college roommate and great friend "Big Mike" is always doing fun stuff in the community and always finds great things to do in his state of Kansas (Balloon fairs, Tin Man half marathon, games at the home of the 2008 National Champ University of Kansas Jayhawks etc.).

Amy and I watch the show every once in a while and we always say "We can do that just as well as they can" or "We should be on that show" so we put our money where our mouth is. Actually we put our feet in line and hoped NBC would give us money to put toward anything we want.

Well after we filled out the online application we went nice and early on a Saturday to apply. The "try-out" was at a RC Willey furniture store. The line went all through its warehouse, all through the parking lot and down the street for many blocks. Needless to say, we spent way too many hours in line for our chance. When we got there, they took groups of ten to talk for 20 seconds each to say why they should be on the show as hyper as they possibly could. Red-heads are good at hyper so that was right in my wheelhouse. Amy and I both made it through the first round. In the second round, they took groups of 10 and gave you 10 seconds to tell them about you. We didn't make it past that round so we can't tell you what happens next. It was a fun day and we were able to goof around with people we had never met, but I don't think we will do that again.

One of the applicants.

Us with the line in the parkin lot behind us. We still had the line in the warehouse to go through.
